Our Mr. August came to us, at first, via an anonymous snap-shot sent in to the College Men offices. The envelope was inscribed, Hot College Guy. We later found out anonymous was, in fact, his sister. We're glad she did! Upon meeting & interviewing C.J., we were all taken by his sweet innocence. He had an adorable smile that was utterly contagious. When he smiled, you found yourself smiling -- you just couldn't help it! Plus, he could smile on cue. A photographers dream! This quality endeared him to us all. We, at College Men, knew it would translate well to the camera. C.J. was signed as our man of August.
Comfort & clothing for a male model...
Our Hot College Guy wasn't as worldly as a few of the other guys. He was a bit shy with everyone at first and felt a little uncomfortable in some of the outfits, but it never came across in any of the photos. But, one has to remember, this is a 20 year old boy, coming from a small farm town outside of Columbus. I'll bet you don't see too many guys running around Ottoville, Ohio in hot pants & beaded necklaces. He eventually took it in stride, realizing he was hundreds of miles away from the tractor's of home and was in one of the most fashion-forward city's with in the United States -- South Beach, Miami! During one of his shoots, the photographer wanted our model to hold a few flowers. One of the male crew members found a few & upon handing them to our Hot College Guy, I heard the crew member jokingly say, "Now you can't say a man never gave you flowers." Our model beamed that infamous smile & I knew our boy was growing up.
The chosen photograph...
Our man for August was an easy location shoot. We set up on Ocean Drive, just a few blocks from the Kent Hotel, at which we were staying. As always a photo shoot attracts onlookers, especially in the trendy tourist district of South Beach. This particular photo was taken on the weekend, as is obvious by the cars lining the street behind our model. The people living & working in Miami, during the week, descend on South Beach in groves come the weekend. With our models million-dollar smile, it didn't take long to get the perfect photo of our Hot College Guy. We wrapped until Monday & prepared to party!
